The Importance Of FRP Pultrusion Mould Design

In the fiberglass profiles pultrusion process, FRP pultrusion mould is the meeting point of the various process parameters and it is the core of the pultrusion process.

Compared with the mature plastic extrusion molding, pultrusion has similarities, but plastic extrusion is only physical change process, and pultrusion is accompanied by a chemical reaction dynamics. FRP pultruded mould condition is much more complicated than that of plastic extrusion, so the design and manufacture of pultrusion mould is very important. It is not only related to the success or failure of the pultrusion process, and determine the quality of pultruded products, but also affects the pultrusion mould service life. Pultruded FRP process generally consists of two parts, a preforming system and molding system.

1. Pre forming system in the pultrusion process, reinforced material with resin impregnation (or impregnated with at the same time), must be in pre forming mould which is composed of a group of yarn guide components into the mold in front, pre forming system is the role of the dipping after the reinforced material in accordance with section off the surface configuration, then gradually forming apreform molding control approximate shape and size, and then enter into the mould, it can guarantee uniform roving.
 
2. Mould sectional area and product cross-sectional area ratio should be greater than or equal to 10 to ensure the mould has enough strength and rigidity, uniform heat distribution and stability after heating. FRP pultrusion mould length is decided according to the forming process of traction speed andresin solidification rate to ensure that the product is pulled out to release the curing degree. We generally use steel chrome plating, surface finish of the mould cavity requires smooth, wear-resistant so as to reduce the friction and improve the pultrusion mould service life.
